Namo Abdulla has spent fifteen years reporting the story of the Kurds and the wider Middle East for the region's audiences and the world's. He began as a freelance correspondent in some of Iraq's most volatile places — Baghdad, Kirkuk, Diyala — writing for The New York Times, Reuters, and the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, before founding Rudaw English as its first editor-in-chief.

After a master's at Columbia Journalism School, he became Rudaw's Washington bureau chief, putting questions to two administrations from the State Department and White House press corps, then covered extremism and press freedom for Voice of America. Today he reports from inside UN headquarters in New York as Rudaw's Chief UN Correspondent, covering the Security Council and the diplomacy, conflicts, and human rights questions that pass through the world body.

Alongside broadcast work, he runs a data-journalism channel on Instagram where his short films regularly draw hundreds of thousands of views.
